Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Prime Rib

Take the boneless prime rib out of the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Meat

In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, chopped fresh rosemary, and thyme. Rub this mixture all over the prime rib, ensuring it's evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Tie the Prime Rib

Using kitchen twine, tie the prime rib at regular intervals to help maintain its shape while cooking.

  4. 4

    Sear the Meat

In a large skillet or frying pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear the prime rib on all sides until browned (about 3-4 minutes per side).

  5. 5

    Roast the Prime Rib

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Place the seared prime rib on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast for 15 minutes, then reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue to cook until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (about 135°F (57°C) for medium-rare). This will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the size.

  6. 6

    Rest and Serve

Once cooked, remove the prime rib from the oven and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute for a more flavorful and tender result.
