Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Roast
Remove the prime rib roast from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 2 hours before cooking. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 2
Season the Roast
In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub the mixture all over the prime rib roast. Drizzle with olive oil and rub it in to ensure even coverage.
- 3
Roast the Prime Rib
Place the seasoned prime rib on a rack in a roasting pan, bone side down. Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes to create a crust.
- 4
Reduce Temperature
After 15 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- 5
Rest the Roast
Remove the roast from the oven and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Allow it to rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving. This helps the juices redistribute.
- 6
Serve
Carve the prime rib into slices and serve with beef broth on the side or as a gravy.
