Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion, bell pepper, and celery (the Holy Trinity) and sauté until soft, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Base

Add the chopped tomatoes, Creole seasoning, bay leaves, salt, black pepper, and broth to the pot. Stir well to combine. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Cover and let simmer for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  3. 3

    Add the Protein

If using shrimp or chicken, add it to the pot in the last 10-15 minutes of cooking, allowing it to cook through.

  4. 4

    Serve

Remove bay leaves and serve the Creole hot over cooked rice.
