Prepare the Patties

In a bowl, season the ground beef with salt and black pepper. Divide the beef into two equal portions and shape them into patties.

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, adding a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
