Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt until well combined.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Once the yeast is activated, add it along with the olive oil to the flour mixture. Stir until a dough starts to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Assembly and Baking
- 6
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.
- 7
Roll Out the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it out onto a floured surface. Roll it out to your desired thickness, about 1/8 inch for a thin crust.
- 8
Prepare the Pizza Base
Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a pizza peel or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 9
Add Sauce and Toppings
Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Add shredded mozzarella cheese and your choice of toppings.
- 10
Bake the Pizza
Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or place the baking sheet in the oven. Bake for about 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and crispy.
- 11
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a couple of minutes, slice, and serve hot.
