Method

Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

  2. 2

    Batter the Shrimp

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. Dip each shrimp first into the egg mixture, then into the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Shrimp

Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Remoulade Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix the Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, and paprika. Mix until smooth and set aside.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Rolls

Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise without cutting all the way through.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Sandwich

Spread a generous amount of remoulade sauce on the inside of each roll. Add a layer of shredded lettuce, followed by slices of tomato.

  3. 8

    Add the Shrimp

Top the veggies with a generous amount of fried shrimp. Drizzle more remoulade sauce on top, if desired.

  4. 9

    Serve

Close the rolls and serve immediately, with extra remoulade on the side.
