Method

Rice Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook Rice

Prepare 2 cups of white rice according to package instructions. Once cooked, set aside and keep warm.

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 2

    Make Patties

In a bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef with 1 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of black pepper, 1 tsp of garlic powder, and 1 tsp of onion powder. Mix until just combined and form into two equal patties.

  2. 3

    Cook Patties

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Remove from skillet and keep warm.

Fried Egg Preparation

  1. 4

    Fry Eggs

In the same skillet, add 1 tbs of butter over medium heat. Crack in the eggs and fry until the whites are set and the yolk is still runny, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Gravy Preparation

  1. 5

    Make Gravy

In the skillet, melt 2 tbs of butter over medium heat. Whisk in 2 tbs of all-purpose flour and cook for about 1 minute. Gradually add in 2 cups of beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps. Stir in 1 tbs of soy sauce and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Plate the Loco Moco

On a plate, place a serving of cooked rice, top with a hamburger patty, then add a fried egg on top. Finally, drizzle the gravy generously over the entire dish. Serve hot.
