Preparing the Potatoes

- 2
Cut into Fries
Cut each potato into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to ensure they cook evenly. Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water to soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
Frying Process
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to check the temperature for accurate frying.
- 4
Dry and Fry the Potatoes
Remove the soaked fries from the water and pat them dry with paper towels. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Drain and Season
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder to taste.

Serve Hot
Serve the fries hot as a side dish or a snack. Enjoy them with your favorite dipping sauces!
