Method
Preparation of Fish
- 1
Cut the Fish
Using a sharp knife, cut the fresh fish into small, bite-sized cubes (about 1/2 inch).
- 2
Remove Skin and Bones
Ensure that the fish is skinless and boneless. Discard any skin or bones you find.
Marinating
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the fish cubes with lime juice, diced red onion, chopped cilantro, finely chopped jalapeño, salt, and black pepper.
- 4
Marinate
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, allowing the fish to 'cook' in the lime juice.
Serving
- 5
Prepare Garnishes
If desired, slice the avocado and set aside. Crush the tortilla chips slightly for serving.
- 6
Serve
Once the fish is fully marinated, serve the ceviche in small bowls or glasses, topped with avocado slices and accompanied by tortilla chips.
