Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine the warm milk (110°F) and granulated sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. 2

    Prepare Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of all-purpose flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted unsalted butter (1 stick, cooled slightly), and eggs. Mix until combined.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Gradually add in the remaining flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

Shaping and Baking

  1. 5

    Shape Rolls

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and turn it onto a floured surface. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place in a greased baking dish.

  2. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the rolls with a clean cloth and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes, until puffy.

  3. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) while the rolls are rising.

  4. 8

    Bake Rolls

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

  5. 9

    Cool

Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.

Maple Butter Preparation

  1. 10

    Make Maple Butter

In a small bowl, beat together 1 stick of softened unsalted butter, maple syrup, and ground cinnamon until well combined and fluffy.
