Baking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pan

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with butter and sprinkle with brown sugar.

  2. 2

    Arrange Pineapple

Place the pineapple slices on top of the brown sugar in the prepared pan. You can also place maraschino cherries in the center of each pineapple slice for added decoration.

  3. 3

    Make the Batter

In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  5. 5

    Pour Batter

Carefully pour the batter over the pineapple slices in the cake pan, spreading it evenly.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool and Flip

Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, run a knife around the edges to loosen it and carefully invert it onto a serving plate.
