Preparation Steps
- 1
Make the Onion Jam
In a skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 2 cups of thinly sliced onions and sauté until soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes. Stir in 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar, cooking for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
- 2
Cook the Burger Patty
Form the ground beef into an 8 oz patty and season with salt and pepper. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on top of the patty to melt.
- 3
Assemble the Burger
Toast the sourdough bun until golden brown. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of the bun, then add the cooked patty with melted Swiss cheese. Top with a generous spoonful of housemade onion jam and a handful of spring mix. Place the top half of the bun on the burger.

Serve
Serve the onion jam burger immediately with your choice of side.
