Fried Pickles
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the crinkle cut dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a bowl, mix together the flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, pour the buttermilk.
- 3
Batter the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it in the flour mixture. Ensure they are evenly coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Carefully add the battered pickles to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve warm with homemade ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce.
