Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Codfish

Soak the codfish in water for 24 hours, changing the water several times. After soaking, drain the cod and shred it into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Fry the Onions and Garlic

In a large frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and minced garlic, cooking until the onions are soft and golden brown.

  3. 3

    Cook the Codfish

Add the shredded codfish to the frying pan with the onions and garlic. Season with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the fish is cooked through.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Fried Potatoes

While the cod is cooking, peel and slice the potatoes into thin rounds. In a separate pan, heat oil and fry the potato slices until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.

  5. 5

    Serve

Transfer the codfish mixture to a traditional Portuguese clay dish, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve alongside the fried potatoes.
