Prepare the Leaves
Rinse the taro and ti leaves under cold water. Trim any thick stems from the taro leaves.
- 3
Wrap the Pork
Place a taro leaf on a flat surface, then place a portion of the marinated pork in the center. Fold the leaves around the pork tightly to create a parcel. Repeat with remaining pork and taro leaves.
- 4
Prepare for Steaming
Place the wrapped pork parcels in a steamer basket. If using ti leaves, you can wrap the parcels in ti leaves as well for extra flavor.
- 5
Steam the Laulau
Add water to the bottom of the steamer and bring to a simmer. Place the steamer basket over the water. Cover and steam for about 2 to 3 hours or until the pork is tender.
- 6
Serve
Carefully unwrap the laulau parcels and serve hot. Enjoy with steamed rice or poi.
