Mix the Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, cornstarch, water, and salt. Stir well until the cornstarch is dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

Cook the Mixture
Place the saucepan over medium heat. Continuously stir the mixture until it begins to thicken and starts to boil. This should take about 10-15 minutes.

Set the Pudding
Once thickened, remove the saucepan from heat. Pour the mixture into a greased 8x8 inch dish or individual serving cups. Allow it to cool slightly before refrigerating.

Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until fully set.

Serve
Optional: Before serving, sprinkle shredded coconut on top of the haupia for added flavor and texture.
