Cooking Instructions
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce
In the same pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly. Gradually whisk in the heavy cream and milk. Continue stirring until the mixture thickens.
Add Cheese and Seasoning
Remove the pot from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar and jack cheeses until melted. Add the salt, black pepper, and paprika, mixing well.
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce, stirring until the pasta is fully coated.
Optional Topping
If desired, transfer the mac and cheese to a baking dish, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top, and broil for a few minutes until golden brown.
Serve
Serve hot and enjoy your Wisconsin Mac & Cheese!
