Method
Preparation of Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
Rinse 1 cup of glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice over boiling water for about 25-30 minutes until tender and translucent.
Coconut Mixture
- 3
Prepare Coconut Sauce
In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of coconut milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat.
- 4
Mix with Rice
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the coconut mixture over it. Mix well and let it sit for about 15-20 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Mango Preparation
- 5
Slice the Mango
Peel and slice the ripe mangoes into thin strips or wedges, removing the pit.
Serving
- 6
Plate the Dish
Serve a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with sliced mango, and drizzle with additional coconut sauce if desired.
