Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Rice

If you haven't already, cook the rice according to package instructions and let it cool. Day-old rice works best for fried rice.

  2. 2

    Prep the Vegetables and Protein

Dice the carrots, bell pepper, and any protein you are using. Mince the garlic and ginger. Set all the ingredients aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a large frying pan or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook Protein (if using)

Add the diced chicken, shrimp, or tofu to the pan and cook until they are fully cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the pan and set aside.

  3. 5

    Stir-fry Vegetables

In the same pan, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Then add the carrots, bell pepper, and green peas. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender.

  4. 6

    Add Rice

Add the cooked rice to the pan and mix well with the vegetables. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the rice is heated through.

  5. 7

    Season the Rice

Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir everything together and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Adjust seasoning if needed.

  6. 8

    Finish with Green Onions

Finally, add the cooked protein back to the pan, sprinkle with sliced green onions, and drizzle with sesame oil. Toss everything together and cook for another minute.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve the Fried Rice

Remove from heat and serve hot. Enjoy your fried rice as a main dish or as a side!
