Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the edamame

Rinse the edamame pods under cool running water to remove any debris or dirt.

  2. 2

    Boil the water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  3. 3

    Add the salt

Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water. This will enhance the flavor of the edamame.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Cook the edamame

Add the rinsed edamame to the boiling water. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the pods are tender and bright green.

  2. 5

    Drain the edamame

After cooking, drain the edamame in a colander and let them cool slightly.

Serving

  1. 6

    Season the edamame

If desired, sprinkle garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and a squeeze of lemon juice over the cooked edamame for extra flavor.

  2. 7

    Serve

Transfer the edamame to a serving bowl. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy by popping the beans out of the pods directly into your mouth.
