Rinse the edamame pods under cool running water to remove any debris or dirt.

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.

Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of salt to the water. This will enhance the flavor of the edamame.
Cooking

Cook the edamame
Add the rinsed edamame to the boiling water. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the pods are tender and bright green.

After cooking, drain the edamame in a colander and let them cool slightly.
