Baklava Ingredients
Method
Baklava Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Phyllo Layers
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out.
- 2
Assemble the Baklava
In a medium bowl, combine chopped walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon. Brush a 9x13 inch baking dish with melted butter. Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough, brushing each sheet with melted butter before adding the next. Sprinkle 1/3 of the walnut mixture over the phyllo. Repeat this process two more times, finishing with 8 layers of phyllo on top.
- 3
Cut the Baklava
Before baking, use a sharp knife to cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes.
- 4
Bake the Baklava
Bake in the preheated oven for about 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
- 5
- 6
Add the Syrup
Once the baklava is baked, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup over it. Allow it to soak and cool completely.
- 7
Melt the White Chocolate
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips in 30-second intervals until smooth. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the cooled baklava.
- 8
Serve
Let the white chocolate set before cutting along the pre-scored lines. Serve and enjoy!
