Chickpea Fries
Method
Preparation
- 1
Make the Chickpea Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine chickpea flour, water, olive oil, salt, cumin, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
- 2
Set the Batter
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the batter rest for about 30 minutes to 1 hour. This allows the flour to hydrate properly.
- 3
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 4
Pour and Bake
Pour the chickpea batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it into an even layer, about 1/2 inch thick. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, until the edges are golden and crisp.
- 5
Cut into Fries
Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Cut the baked chickpea layer into fry shapes.
- 6
Final Bake
Return the cut fries to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until they are crispy and golden brown.
