Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash the Russet potatoes thoroughly. Peel them if desired, then cut them into thin strips (about 1/4 inch thick) to create fries.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps them become crispier when fried.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Fry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a paper towel. Carefully add a handful of fries to the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.

  5. 5

    Drain and Season

Use a slotted spoon to remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. While still hot, season with salt, pepper, and paprika if using.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the fries hot as a side dish or snack. Enjoy!
