Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips to create fries.
- 2
Soak the Fries
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Drain and pat the fries dry. Fry them in batches until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes per batch.
- 5
Prepare the Cajun Seasoning
In a small bowl, mix together paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, thyme, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
- 6
Season the Fries
Remove fries from oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle the Cajun seasoning over the fries and toss to coat evenly.
- 7
Serve
Serve the Cajun fries hot as a delicious side or snack.
