Method

For the Yazik Ruben Sandwich

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beef Tongue

Cook the beef tongue in boiling water for 2-3 hours until tender. Let it cool, then peel the outer skin and slice thinly.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

On a slice of rye bread, layer shaved beef tongue, a slice of provolone cheese, a generous amount of Russian sauerkraut, and drizzle with Russian dressing. Top with another slice of rye bread.

  3. 3

    Grill the Sandwich

Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich and grill on medium heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.

For the Moscow Fries

  1. 4

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and cut the potatoes into thin fries. Soak them in water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  2. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the potatoes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Drain on paper towels and season with salt.
