Dumplings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dumpling Dough

In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the egg and water, mixing until a dough forms. Knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a skillet, sauté the onions and garlic in a bit of oil until translucent. Add ground beef and pork, cooking until browned. Season with salt and pepper. Allow to cool.

  3. 3

    Roll the Dough and Fill

Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut into circles (about 3 inches in diameter). Place a spoonful of filling on each circle, fold, and pinch to seal.

  4. 4

    Cook the Dumplings

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the dumplings and cook until they float to the top, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain.

  5. 5

    Make the Mushroom Sauce

In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add mushrooms and sauté until golden. Stir in heavy cream, season with salt and pepper, and let simmer for a few minutes.

  6. 6

    Broil the Dish

Preheat the oven broiler. Place the cooked dumplings in a baking dish, cover with mushroom sauce and sprinkle cheese on top. Broil for 3-5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
