Bread Ingredients

Method

Bread Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare Yeast Mixture

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, rye flour, caraway seeds, and salt. Create a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix until a dough forms, then transfer it to a floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

  5. 5

    Shape the Dough

Punch down the risen dough and divide it into small balls. Shape each ball into a round loaf or roll.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Place the shaped loaves on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. 8

    Bake

Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and hollow sounding when tapped.

  9. 9

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven, allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
