Cocktail Preparation
- 1
Muddle the Mint and Sugar
In a sturdy glass, add 10 fresh mint leaves and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently press the mint leaves to release their essential oils, mixing them with the sugar.
- 2
Add Lime Juice
Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice from one half into the glass. Discard the lime half and keep the other half for garnishing later.
- 3
Pour in the Rum
Add 2 ounces of white rum into the mixture of muddled mint, sugar, and lime juice. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.
- 4
Add Ice
Fill the glass with ice cubes, about 1 cup, to chill the mixture.
- 5
Top with Soda Water
Pour 4 ounces of soda water over the ice and other ingredients. Stir gently to mix everything together.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Garnish the cocktail with a lime wedge and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
