Gyro Meat

Method

Prepare the Gyro Meat

  1. 1

    Mix the Meat

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground lamb, onion, garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well until fully combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Gyros

Form the meat mixture into oval-shaped patties or logs.

  3. 3

    Cook the Gyros

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the gyro patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until browned and cooked through.

Prepare the Rice Pilaf

  1. 4

    Cook the Rice

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the rice and toast for 2-3 minutes. Pour in the chicken broth, add salt and pepper, then bring to a boil.

  2. 5

    Simmer

Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed. Fluff with a fork.

Prepare the Salad

  1. 6

    Mix the Salad

In a large bowl, combine diced cucumber, diced tomato, sliced red onion, and chopped lettuce. Drizzle with olive oil and lemon juice, then season with salt and pepper. Toss to combine.
