Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Brownie Mix

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a bowl, prepare the brownie mix according to the package instructions, adding eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Phyllo Dough

Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out. Melt some butter and brush it on the bottom of a baking dish.

  3. 3

    Layer the Phyllo Dough

Layer 5 sheets of phyllo dough in the baking dish, brushing each layer with melted butter. This will create a flaky base for the baklava.

  4. 4

    Add the Brownie Mixture

Pour half of the brownie mixture over the layered phyllo dough and spread it evenly.

  5. 5

    Add More Phyllo Dough

Layer another 5 sheets of phyllo dough on top of the brownie mixture, brushing each with melted butter.

  6. 6

    Repeat the Process

Pour the remaining brownie mixture over this layer and spread evenly. Top with another 5 layers of phyllo dough, again brushing each layer with butter.

  7. 7

    Add Walnuts and Cinnamon

Chop the walnuts and mix them with cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture on top of the final layer of phyllo dough.

  8. 8

    Bake the Baklava

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the phyllo dough is golden brown.

  9. 9

    Prepare the Honey Syrup

While the baklava is baking, combine honey and sugar in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves and let it simmer for a few minutes.

  10. 10

    Finish the Baklava

Once the baklava is done baking, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the honey syrup over it. Allow it to soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
