Preparation Instructions
- 1
Soak Corn Husks
Place the corn husks in warm water and let them soak for about 30 minutes until they are pliable.
- 2
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine masa harina, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add chicken broth and vegetable oil, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In another bowl, mix the shredded turkey with red chili sauce until well combined.
- 4
Assemble the Tamales
Take a soaked corn husk and spread about 2 tablespoons of masa dough onto the center. Add 1-2 tablespoons of the turkey filling on top of the masa. Fold the sides of the corn husk over the masa and filling, then fold the bottom up to secure the tamale.
- 5
Steam the Tamales
Place the tamales upright in a steamer basket. Cover with a wet cloth and steam for about 1 to 1.5 hours, until the masa easily pulls away from the husk.
- 6
Serve
Once cooked, let the tamales cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with additional red chili sauce if desired.
