Fried Wontons

Method

Preparation and Cooking

1

Prepare the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, finely chopped green onions, minced garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

2

Assemble the Wontons

Take a wonton wrapper and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it in half to form a triangle, and press the edges to seal. For a decorative touch, you can bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to seal.

3

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of wonton; it should sizzle immediately.

4

Fry the Wontons

Carefully add a few wontons to the hot oil, being sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 3-4 minutes or until they are golden and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

5

Serve

Serve the fried wontons hot, with your choice of dipping sauce such as sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.
