Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Prime Rib
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). Pat the prime rib roast dry with paper towels and place it on a rack in a roasting pan.
- 2
Season the Meat
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and chopped fresh rosemary. Rub the olive oil all over the roast, then generously apply the seasoning mixture to the meat, ensuring it’s well coated.
- 3
Roast the Prime Rib
Place the roasting pan in the preheated oven and roast for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).
- 4
Rest the Meat
Once cooked to your liking, remove the prime rib from the oven and tent it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
- 5
Make the Gravy (Optional)
While the roast is resting, you can make a simple gravy. Pour the beef broth into the roasting pan, scraping up any browned bits. Heat on the stove and reduce slightly, then strain if desired.
- 6
Serve
Slice the prime rib into thick cuts and serve with the gravy on the side.
