Pasta Dough
Method
Making the Pasta
- 1
- 2
Knead the Dough
Once the dough comes together, knead it by hand for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle a little more flour as needed.
- 3
Rest the Dough
Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and let it rest at room temperature for at least 30 minutes. This will help to relax the gluten.
- 4
Roll Out the Dough
After resting, divide the dough into four pieces. Keep the pieces you're not using covered. Roll out one piece at a time using a pasta machine or a rolling pin, until it reaches your desired thickness.
- 5
Cut the Pasta
Cut the rolled-out dough into your preferred shape (fettuccine, tagliatelle, lasagna sheets, etc.) using a sharp knife or a pasta cutter.
- 6
Cook the Pasta
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook for 2-4 minutes, depending on the thickness. Fresh pasta cooks quickly, so keep an eye on it!
