Sushi Roll Ingredients

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions and let it cool.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix the crawfish tails, cream cheese, and chopped green onions until well combined.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sushi Rolls

Lay a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands to prevent sticking and spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the nori, leaving about an inch at the top edge. Place a line of the crawfish mixture along the center of the rice. Roll the sushi tightly from the bottom, using the mat to help shape it. Seal the edge with a bit of water.

  4. 4

    Prepare for Frying

Slice the sushi rolls into bite-sized pieces. Prepare the tempura batter according to package instructions by mixing the batter mix with water.

  5. 5

    Fry the Rolls

Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Dip each sushi piece into the tempura batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered rolls in the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the deep-fried Mardi Gras rolls with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi on the side.
