Prepare the Ingredients
Rinse the fresh cranberries under cold water and remove any stems or damaged berries.

Cook the Sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine the water, granulated sugar, and cinnamon stick. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.

Add Cranberries
Add the fresh cranberries and orange zest to the saucepan. Return to a boil.

Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.

Season and Cool
Remove from heat, add salt to taste, and allow the sauce to cool to room temperature before serving.
