Calamares

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tartar Sauce

In a mixing bowl, combine chopped piquillo peppers, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and fresh parsley. Mix well and set aside in the refrigerator to chill.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Calamares

In a large bowl, combine semolina flour, all-purpose flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs.

  3. 3

    Coat the Squid

Dip each squid ring into the egg wash, then coat it in the flour mixture, ensuring it is evenly covered.

  4. 4

    Fry the Calamares

Heat vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated squid rings in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Arrange the fried calamares on a serving platter and serve hot with the piquillo tartar sauce on the side.
