Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of the Sauce

  1. 1

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, diced carrot, and diced celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 2

    Add Garlic and Ground Beef

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for an additional minute. Then, add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until the beef is browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. This allows the flavors to meld together.

Cooking the Spaghetti

  1. 5

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Use about 1 tablespoon of salt for every 4 liters of water.

  2. 6

    Cook Spaghetti

Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente. This usually takes about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 7

    Drain the Spaghetti

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and reserve a cup of pasta water for later use if needed.

Final Assembly

  1. 8

    Combine and Serve

Add the drained spaghetti directly into the skillet with the Bolognese sauce. Toss to combine, adding reserved pasta water as necessary to achieve desired consistency. Serve warm, topped with grated Parmesan cheese.
