Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Fettuccine

Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 10-12 minutes, until al dente.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water for later use if needed.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt the Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1 minute, until fragrant but not browned.

  3. 6

    Stir in Heavy Cream

Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly to combine with the butter and garlic.

  4. 7

    Add Parmesan Cheese

Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.

  5. 8

    Season the Sauce

Add salt, black pepper, and a pinch of nutmeg to the sauce, and stir well to incorporate.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the cooked fettuccine pasta to the Alfredo sauce in the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta evenly.

  2. 10

    Adjust Consistency

If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.

Serving

  1. 11

    Garnish and Serve

Serve the Pasta Alfredo hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley on top.
