Method
Corn Dog Directions
- 1
Prepare Hot Dogs
Insert a wooden skewer into each hot dog, pushing it about halfway through.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. In another bowl, combine milk and egg, then add to the dry ingredients. Stir until combined; the batter should be thick.
- 3
Heat Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Dip and Fry
Dip each skewer with a hot dog into the batter, coating it evenly. Carefully place it into the hot oil and fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with remaining hot dogs.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Remove the corn dogs from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauces.
