Method
Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it is hot enough for baking the cookies.
Prepare Baking Sheets
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats to prevent sticking.
Mixing Ingredients
Combine Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and powdered sugar until evenly mixed.
Cream Butter and Sugars
In a separate bowl, beat the unsalted butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix.
Fold in Mix-ins
Gently fold in the chocolate chips, chopped nuts, and dried cranberries or raisins until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
Baking
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop heaping tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden and the centers are slightly soft. They will firm up as they cool.
Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
