Method
Preparation
- 1
Cook the Oatmeal
In a large saucepan, bring the water to a boil. Add the rolled oats and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are creamy and tender.
- 2
Prepare the Cinnamon Streusel
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Spread the mixture on a baking sheet and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 15 minutes or until golden brown, stirring halfway through.
- 3
Assemble the Dish
Once the oatmeal is cooked, serve it hot in bowls. Top with currants, fresh fruit, and the cinnamon streusel. Drizzle with milk and sprinkle with brown sugar to taste.
