Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it's hot when you put the brownies in.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the brownies.

Mixing Ingredients

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, and baking powder until well combined.

  2. 4

    Melt Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 5

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  4. 6

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 7

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, fold in chocolate chips and chopped walnuts into the brownie batter.

Baking

  1. 8

    Pour Batter into Pan

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

  2. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  3. 10

    Cool

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Serving

  1. 11

    Serve Warm

Cut the brownies into squares and serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
