Burger Patty

Toppings

Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Use your hands to mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a round patty that is about 1 inch thick. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help them cook evenly.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or heat a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the burger patty on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side for medium doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Bun

While the burger is cooking, slice the burger bun in half and toast it lightly on the grill or in a toaster, if desired.

  2. 6

    Add Toppings

Once the burger patty is cooked and the cheese is melted, place the patty on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Top with a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, a slice of onion, and finally, place the top half of the bun on the burger.
