Method

Pulled Pork Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Rub the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Make sure to cover all sides of the meat.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pork

Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  3. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork shoulder from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the cooking juices.

BBQ Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a saucepan over medium heat, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.

  2. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens slightly.

  3. 6

    Mix with Pulled Pork

Once the sauce is ready, pour it over the shredded pork in the slow cooker. Stir to combine and let it cook on low for an additional 30 minutes.

Coleslaw Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix Coleslaw Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage and carrots.

  2. 8

    Prepare Dressing

In a separate bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper until smooth.

  3. 9

    Combine Slaw and Dressing

Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrots, and toss until well combined. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 10

    Assemble the Sandwich

Toast the hamburger buns until golden. Layer the pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun and top it with coleslaw. Place the top half of the bun over the coleslaw to complete the sandwich.
