Cooking Instructions
- 1
Caramelize the Onions
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions, sprinkle with salt, and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
- 2
Prepare the Au Jus
In a small saucepan, heat the beef broth until it's simmering. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Keep warm on low heat.
- 3
Assemble the Sandwiches
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Slice the ciabatta rolls in half and place them on a baking sheet. Layer the sliced roast beef, caramelized onions, and Swiss cheese on the bottom half of each roll.
- 4
Toast the Sandwiches
Place the assembled sandwiches in the oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is toasted.
- 5
Serve
Remove the sandwiches from the oven, cut them in half if desired, and serve hot with the warm au jus on the side for dipping.
