Directions

  1. 1

    Cooking the Pasta

In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Making the Cheese Sauce

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook, stirring constantly for about 1-2 minutes. Gradually add the milk while whisking continuously until the mixture is smooth and thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 3

    Adding Cheese

Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses until melted and smooth. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, and mustard powder.

  4. 4

    Combining and Baking

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked macaroni and cheese sauce until evenly coated. Transfer to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle panko bread crumbs evenly on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

  5. 5

    Serving

Let the mac & cheese cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your classic mac & cheese!
