Steam the Clams
In a large pot, combine 2 cups of water and bring to a simmer. Add the cleaned clams to the pot, cover, and steam for about 5-7 minutes or until the clams open. Discard any clams that do not open.
Making Red Sauce

Sauté Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add 4 minced garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Add Tomatoes
Stir in 1 can of crushed tomatoes (28 ounces) and bring to a simmer. Cook for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens.

Season the Sauce
Add 1 cup of chopped fresh basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir well and let it cook for an additional 2 minutes.
Making White Sauce

Sauté Shallots and Garlic
In a separate skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 2 finely chopped shallots and 2 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until soft and translucent.

Add Wine and Cream
Pour in 1 cup of white wine and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and add 1 cup of heavy cream. Stir to combine and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

Finish the Sauce
Stir in 1 cup of chopped fresh parsley, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
