Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil.

Cook Spaghetti
Add the spaghetti to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Preparing the Meat Sauce

Sauté Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion, minced garlic, grated carrot, and chopped celery. Sauté until the vegetables are soft, about 5 minutes.

Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, about 6-8 minutes.

Add Tomato Ingredients
Stir in the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, and red wine. Mix well.

Season the Sauce
Add the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serving the Dish

Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the meat sauce has thickened, add the drained spaghetti to the sauce and toss to combine evenly.

Serve the spaghetti bolognese hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves.
