Prepare the Torta
Slice the bolillo rolls in half and lightly toast them. Spread a layer of refried black beans on the bottom half of each roll. Add a generous amount of carnitas on top and cover with the top half of the roll.

Assemble the Torta Ahogada
Place the assembled tortas in a serving dish and generously pour the prepared salsa over the top to 'drown' them. Let them soak for a few minutes.

Garnish
Slice the onion and avocado. Top the tortas with sliced onion and avocado. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
